Van der Hoorn takes the third stage and Bissegger continues to lead

The Dutchman from Intermarché wins the third set of the Benelux Tour, ending in Hoogerheide. The Swiss of the EF retains the first place.


The Dutchman Taco Van Der Hoorn, from the Intermarché team, achieved victory in the third stage of the Benelux Tour, held this Wednesday between Essen and Hoogerheide (168.3 km), while the Swiss Stefan Bissegger (EF Education), kept the jersey of leader who achieved in the time trial last Tuesday.

Van Der Hoorn, who invested a time of 3:40:23 hours, beat the sprint to the Danish Mathias Norsgaard (Movistar) and the Australian Luke Durbrigde (Team BikeExchange), who were second and third, respectively. For the Dutch rider, this victory is the second of the season, after taking the third stage of the last Giro d'Italia, which ran between Biella and Canale.

The best Spaniards of the day were Movistar cyclists Iván García Cortina and Lluís Mas, who arrived in a large group, where the group of favorites was, four seconds behind Van Der Hoorn. In the general classification, Bissegger will keep the leader's jersey one more day, and leads by 19, 20 and 22 seconds over the Danish Kasper Asgreen (Quick Step), the Swiss Stefan Küng (FDJ) and the Australian Luke Durbrigde (Team BikeExchange), who they are second, third and fourth in the general classification, respectively.

The fourth stage of this Thursday, which will run between the towns Aalter and Ardooie, with a total of 166.1 km, will once again have a clearly flat profile, which will once again give the sprinters another opportunity to win the victory
