Landa leaves La Vuelta

The Basque from Bahrain, who attacked in the Lagos de Covadonga stage, withdrew before ascending the mythical peak.

Mikel Landa ended his Vuelta 2021. The Basque cyclist from Bahrain left the race on the 17th stage, a day in which he tried to break into the escape, but in which he landed before the last ascent, the legendary port of Lagos de Covadonga. The Alava, who had come to the race as leader of the formation, no longer had options in the general classification, in 27th place, more than 48 minutes from the lead.

With this goodbye, the Spaniard closes a test in which he was never at ease. After his fall in the Giro, he was able to win the Vuelta Burgos, which made him hope that he could fight for big things. But he himself was in charge of lowering expectations when leaving Burgos. "I'm not 100%, I hope to improve." After several days in which he suffered and being involved in a fall, he reconfigured his objectives to help the team.
