Wawrinka misses the US Open and is replaced by Andy Murray

The Swiss tennis player will not be at the US Open because he is not fully recovered from his left foot operation. Therefore, Murray will replace him.

Stan Wawrinka, world number 31, will not be able to finally participate in the US Open (August 30-September 12) to continue with his recovery of his left foot. In his place in the main draw will be Britain's Andy Murray, winner of the 2012 US Open.

The Swiss underwent a first surgery on his left foot in March and, three months later, had to undergo surgery for another second operation. The tennis player has played four tournaments in 2021, with a balance of three victories and four defeats.

His last participation took place at the beginning of March when he lost in the first round of the ATP 250 in Doha to the South African Lloyd Harris. Wawrinka's season is proving to be an ordeal, as it was also low at Roland Garros, Wimbledon and the Tokyo Olympics.
