An individual time trial of 7.1 km through the center of Burgos, on a route that will run through the monumental part of the city, will crown the first leader of La Vuelta 2021. Primoz Roglic, recent Olympic gold in the Tokyo Games, will be the main Favorite to take the first lead of La Vuelta, although the Slovenian downplays it: "Whatever happens, the differences in such a short day will be minimal."

The route, of course, will have the difficulty of climbing the castle and for the victory you also have to count on explosive cyclists such as the Australian Michael Matthews or even another Olympic champion (in MTB) such as the young British Thomas Pidcock, who debuts in a three-week run. As for the Spaniards, it could be an opportunity for Ion Izagirre or Alejandro Valverde himself.
