Two sentenced at Liverpool

Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri have a good chance of leaving Anfield; thus the offensive net trident would be reduced to Salah, Firmino, Mané, Jota and Minamino, a fair bit.

The Liverpool offices will be active in the last days of this month. Although there has not been much movement in terms of signings - there is only one new face, that of Ibrahima Konaté - there have been several momentous renewals in the Anfield squad. And they will not be the last. After extending the contracts of Alisson Becker (2027), Fabinho (2026), Virgil van Dijk (2025) and Trent Alexander-Arnold (2025), Liverpool is already negotiating the extension with other stars such as Henderson, Firmino, Salah or Mané.

However, the focus is now on the exit operation. There are two footballers marked in red. On the one hand, Divock Origi has not been a real threat to take the place of any of the offensive trident and, at 26 years old, he has a market in European football. On the other hand, Xherdan Shaqiri is a target of Olympique de Lyon. According to what has been published in England, the French have an offer from Burnley for Cornet of about 14 million, an amount that they will use to offer it to Liverpool to take the Swiss international, with whom they have already agreed all the amounts of their contract.

There is another planning problem for Jürgen Klopp. If these two exits take place, there would be five players left for his offensive trident: Salah, Firmino, Mané, Jota and Minamino, in addition to the young Harvey Elliott, who at 18 years old has come to stay, as shown by his participation in the first day of the Premier League. If you take into account that both Salah and Mané are very likely to miss at least a month of competition in January, on the occasion of the Africa Cup, it leaves the offensive front a bit lame, especially if Shaqiri and Origi leave Anfield .
