The Pico Villuercas will dictate sentence

After a somewhat decaffeinated stage, the peloton will face Pico Villuercas, with ramps of up to 15% and which opens in the Vuelta.

Stage 13 of the Vuelta a España was a bit decaffeinated. In a way it was to be expected after the three days of great cycling that we had been seeing. In the longest stage, we barely saw a break of three riders without any history, but at the end of the day, it was 200 kilometers that added to the legs and in which nobody wanted to risk. Although the main protagonist was the Deceuninck-Quick Step team, who lost their leader Jakobsen after a puncture and managed to win the stage with one of their pitchers. Few teams can afford that luxury.

For his part, Bernal cut 5 seconds, inconsequential to tell the truth. The most important thing is that he is in the race. We could think that it had moved away a bit, but now there are stages that can come in handy. He is waiting for the final stretch of the Vuelta, and in the next stage we will see if he is up to the task.

The fourteenth stage will make a difference, with special attention to Pico Villuercas. Let's hope that the favorites do not wait until the end to attack, but rather move to 10 kilometers from the finish line, as happened the other day in Velefique. There's a part 7 or 8 from the finish where you can really do some damage. If you wait until the end, the differences will be very small. When things have gotten tough, the strongest have been Enric Mas, Superman and Roglic. The rest must show that they have improved, because there is a stage in which many can say goodbye to the general. The Villuercas will dictate sentence.
