The National Team finishes second in the team chrono

The national squad finished second, only behind the Netherlands. A result that strengthens Juan Ayuso and Carlos Rodríguez as favorites in the general classification.


The Spanish National Team today completed an extraordinary performance in the 27-kilometer team time trial of the Tour del Porvenir in Laon; a date in which he managed to finish second after the stratospheric time of the Netherlands.

The national team, one of the last to start, managed to set the best intermediate time to also perform a superb final part of the clock, ending with a record of 31'04 ”. The Netherlands took the victory comfortably with a time of 30'41 ”. In this way, the Spanish National Team places Carlos Rodríguez and Juan Ayuso in unbeatable conditions in the general classification before the arrival of the mountain stages.

Spain, furthermore, manages in this way to establish an important advantage with dangerous nations such as Great Britain, which has remained two minutes away, or Colombia, which has managed to fit a difference of more than two minutes in this time trial. Dutchman Van Dijke has become the new leader of the race. Carlos Rodríguez is 7th and Juan Ayuso, 8th, both at 34 "behind the leader. Javier Romo is 9th, at 36", and Raúl García Pierna, 10th at 37 ". This Monday the cyclists will compete over 153 kilometers in which they will find some heights and a final slope that could make a difference.
