Quartararo leaves nothing

The Frenchman builds his way to the title by leading all the markers: World Cup, victories, podiums, pole positions, fastest laps ...

He had to pay too high a price to face the last bars of this season as a great favorite for the title, but 2020 was a year of full-fledged learning for a Fabio Quartararo who, today, has become the rival to beat for the queen category. The Frenchman, in his second year in MotoGP, had to deal with the pressure of leading a championship that Márquez had monopolized until that moment and orphaned without his leader, the relief was too great for a rider who went from dominating the general classification, to close the season in eighth position. But now, with the lesson learned, the story is completely different and El Diablo has not only learned to manage emotions, but has also been strengthened by some mistakes that allow him to currently lead all the World Cup markers.

In addition to his overall championship lead, Quartararo leads the grid with 181 points giving him a 47 margin to second and third place (Bagnaia and Mir are tied at 134), the Yamaha rider is building his way to the title signing the best records in the rest of the areas. The lack of experience and a completely new situation meant that just a year ago the stress could be more than the talent of a pilot whose adrenaline has uncovered his most competitive version, as shown by the figures in the pole ranking. With five, with eight races remaining, Fabio adds more than anyone in what he likes the most. And it shows: "It is when I go faster, the feeling of doing a lap as fast as possible is much better than the sensations of the race. It means that nobody has gone faster than you."With ambition ahead of him, his eagerness to lead the timed test has not made him lose sight of his position in the race and although they are different sensations as the Frenchman acknowledges, on Sundays he has also been in charge of being in front with a total of 83 laps led by the 279 totals that have been disputed. Throughout these, he has also been the most competitive driver when it comes to completing them with four fast laps out of eleven possible, which has led him to see the checkered flag in first position four other times. Being a figure that exceeds, eight tests from the end, the number of triumphs he achieved in 2020 where he stopped his counter in his tracks. In addition to his triumphs in Qatar 2, Portugal, Mugello and Assen, the rest of the visits that Quartararo has made to the podium have been in third position (at Le Mans, Sachsenring and Austria 1), adding seven presences that, once again, make it the absolute leader within the top-3 in the category. And it all doesn't end there.'El Diablo' more 'conservative'

Having understood that there is nothing to prove, but that everything happens to achieve personal goals, Fabio has fought every race in search of the best possible result. Since the return of the holidays, taking into account what is at stake between now and the end of the year, thinking about the title has led him not to risk more than necessary. Which has resulted in a 100% effectiveness when it comes to seeing the checkered flag. El Diablo has finished each and every one of the races that have been held in this course and has always done so within the top-10 except for the appointment in Jerez (he was 13th due to forearm problems). However, this milestone is no longer at his own expense since Luca Marini, in his first year in the category, is at the same level as the Frenchman in completed races.

Another that equals him is Joan Mir, but in terms of results within the top-5. The reigning champion, still in search of victory this season, continues to make consistency his best virtue and after having finished up to eight times in the top five, his consistency means that the Frenchman does not lose sight of him in the fight for the World Cup: "I am my biggest rival for the title, although Joan is also fast." But not as much as him. Although the objective of the Suzuki rider is to revalidate the crown, for the moment he shifts all the pressure towards the leader: "Fabio has a great advantage and the pressure will continue to grow. All the pressure from Yamaha is on him and will be every time. highest". In the final stretch of the season, the mental game also fulfills its role and while not even a year ago tension could be considered the worst enemy of El Diablo, "structured and considerate" have become two magic words that can finally lead you to fulfill a dream. All you need to do is hold the ribbon until November 14th.
