Maverick Viñales will race with Aprilia from 2022, as announced by As on June 26, and the Noale factory has confirmed him as a partner of Aleix Espargaró, with whom he already shared a garage in 2015 and 2016, in the Italian official. According to the Aprilia statement, the contractual relationship will be for one year with the option to renew for a longer time. This is how Maverick returns to the brand with which he made his debut in the World Championship, in 2011, the year in which he achieved four victories and nine podiums to finish third in the 125cc championship.

Massimo Rivola, CEO of the brand, is sure that the decision is another step in the growth and development strategy of the Italian team, which comes just in the year of the transition to factory team: “We are very happy to announce that we have signed Maverick Viñales, a very high-level rider and one of the purest talents in the premier class. Our project is now enriched by the value provided by Maverick, a World Champion who has confirmed his talent as a first-line rider in MotoGP, at a time of great change, after taking a completely renovated motorcycle to the track and having consolidated ourselves In the group of protagonists, we are also now facing a change of status as a factory team, to lead Aprilia to success. ”

On the other hand, Rivola assured that Lorenzo Savadori, who will give up his seat to Viñales, will not abandon the Italian project: “We are honored to be able to make all of our best skills available to Viñales, along with our enthusiasm and our passion. I am sure that, like Aleix, he will embrace this project of great potential. The arrival of Maverick does not remove Lorenzo Savadori from the team at all, as he will continue to be an integral part of the Aprilia Racing family. ”

After clarifying the long-term future of the Roses rider, it now remains to be clarified what will happen to the rest of the season. Viñales was sanctioned by Yamaha for mistreating and over-revving the M1 engine during the first race in Austria. Maverick missed the second stake in the Red Bull Ring and apologized to his factory and team, without even deciding he is going to get on the bike in future races or not.

Finally, his future partner in Aprilia, Alexi Espargaró, has already welcomed him through social networks: "Welcome to my / your home. It is time to make history together and put Aprilia back on top." During the Austrian GP, the Aprilia rider already appreciated the possibility, which is already real, of sharing the box with Viñales: "If he comes to Aprilia, Maverick will have no problem, and by my side he will be better than ever."
