Odegaard is already from Arsenal

The transfer has been closed and the Norwegian is going to London without a buyback option. Madrid will enter around € 40M counting variables. He will debut on Sunday against Chelsea.

Martin Odegaard stops being a Real Madrid footballer. The white club and Arsenal have completed the transfer agreement and the Norwegian becomes a Gunners footballer. It leaves transferred (the Madrid entity will not have a repurchase option but it does keep a right of first refusal for the future) and Madrid will enter around 40 million euros from its sale, counting among them different variables.

It is the end to one of the hot spots of the Madrid summer. Odegaard returned in July from his six-month assignment at Arsenal and after verifying during the preseason that he was not returning with starting stripes, he has preferred to leave the club. Madrid also settled in this way a strong bet that began six years ago, when it took over the Nordic when he turned 16, paying 2.3 million euros and gave him a mini-galactic salary (€ 3.5 million gross per year). Odegaard did not adapt to Castilla, nor did he convince Ancelotti, Rafa Benítez or Zidane and he has only gotten his best performance in some of his multiple assignments (twice at Heerenveen, Vitesse, Real Sociedad and Arsenal). Without success in sports, Real Madrid has obtained a significant economic gain from the Norwegian. In addition to this income from its sale, two years ago it received € 2M for its transfer in San Sebastián and this season the Gunner club paid € 5M for the six-month loan.

Arsenal has accelerated the negotiations in the last hours because their goal was to complete the paperwork before this weekend, the deadline to register Odegaard in time to play this Sunday in the London derby against Chelsea (5:30 p.m. ). The midfielder, who has not trained for the last two days with Madrid (he did it alone) to avoid an injury, passed the recognition this Thursday and will wear the number 8.
