A historic return for Movistar Team. 19 years after its last participation in the Volta a Portugal, still with the name of iBanesto.com, the 'telephone' squad will attend, full of young people, the 82nd edition of the 'Grandissima', a demanding and always spectacular event, for the enormous motivation of the local teams and the affection that the Portuguese fans have for their reigning test. Sergio Samitier, Héctor Carretero, Abner González, Mathias Norsgaard, Juri Hollmann, Lluís Mas and Juan Alba will form the blue block.

A 5.4km prologue in Lisbon (Wednesday 4th) will open a race with a well-known route for regular teams. There is not a single clear sprint option - only Setúbal (Thursday 5), with a 'Segunda' near the finish line, and Castelo Branco (Friday 6) seem feasible - and escapes are more common than 'volatas'.

The two most famous high end finals are Torre (Special; Saturday 7th), the highest point in mainland Portugal, and Senhora da Graça (1st; Saturday 14th), although those of Guarda (3rd; Sunday 8th) also finish on the rise. Santo Tirso (2nd; Tuesday 10th) and Montalegre (1st; Friday 13th). The race is decided with 20 km CRI in Viseu (Sunday 15), also very traditional in 'A Volta'.
