Molano wins in Briviesca; Gonzalo Serrano, new leader

Colombian Juan Sebastián Molano takes the second stage of the Vuelta a Burgos. After a flight of five Spaniards, the victory was decided on the sprint.


Colombian cyclist Juan Sebastián Molano (UAE Team Emirates) has won this Wednesday the second stage of the XLIII edition of the Vuelta a Burgos, disputed between the towns of Tardajos and Briviesca, of 175 kilometers, while the Spanish Gonzalo Serrano (Movistar) has become the new leader.

The stage was marked by the escape of Carlos Canal, along with Oier Lazcano, Raúl García, Unai Cuadrado and Sergio García, but the escape was always controlled by the peloton and the victory was decided by the sprint, where Molano was the fastest.

For his part, the Spanish Gonzalo Serrano is the new leader of the general classification thanks to the 'postometer'. The Movistar rider obtained the reward of the golden jersey and now leads ahead of the Belgian Eddy Planckaert, from Alpecin, first classified this Tuesday.

This Thursday, with the dispute of the third stage in the Vuelta a Burgos, the first test of the round will arrive with the ascent of Picón Blanco on a day that will be held between the towns of Busto de Bureba and Espinosa de los Monteros over 173 kilometers .
