López, Mas and Valverde will lead Movistar in La Vuelta

The Colombian and the Mallorcan leave as Movistar leaders for La Vuelta in a team where Marc Soler will not be after confirming his departure to UAE Emirates.

The Movistar team has announced this Monday its line-up of eight cyclists who will take the start of La Vuelta 2021 this Saturday at the Cathedral of Burgos. After things did not turn out as expected on the Tour and with Enric Mas' sixth place overall as the main achievement, Eusebio Unzué's team arrives with the desire to redeem itself in La Vuelta.

For this, Movistar will have a great team willing to fight for everything in La Vuelta and that will have Miguel Ángel López and Enric Mas as their leaders. The Colombian, third in the 2018 edition and who did not participate last year, arrives at La Vuelta wanting to get rid of the thorn of the Tour, where he did not perform a great performance because of the falls. For his part, Mas wants to shine again in the Tour of Spain, where he was second in 2018 and where he hopes to improve the fifth place achieved in the general classification last year.

Next to them will be the SUV Alejandro Valverde. 'El Bala' arrives at La Vuelta ready to shine and help the team to get rid of the bad taste in his mouth left by the Tour and, above all, the Tokyo Olympics, where he was far from the fight for medals in the demanding tour close to Mount Fuji. Along with Valverde, the team is completed by Imanol Erviti, José Joaquín Rojas and Nelson Oliveira, who will be the main references on the plain, the Swiss Johan Jacobs and Carlos Verona, who will do the job for their leaders in the mountains. The absence from the team of Marc Soler, one of the team's key men in recent editions of La Vuelta, is surprising.
