Jakobsen: "I'm very happy to be competitive again"

The 24-year-old Dutchman from Deceuninck adds his second stage in La Vuelta in 2021, at the moment the same successes as in the 2019 edition.

As in the 2019 edition of La Vuelta, before his terrible accident in the 2020 Tour of Poland, locked up by Dylan Groenewegen in the sprint, Fabio Jakobsen has already won two stage victories in the national round. The 24-year-old Dutchman finished off the excellent work of his Deceuninck teammates at the finish line in La Manga del Mar Menor: “Due to the work of the boys, my mission is reduced to completing the last 200 meters better than the other rivals. It is about calculating the perfect timing, I dedicate it to them and to the boss Pat Lefevere (who renewed his contract until 2023). ”

In addition, thanks to his second victory in this Vuelta, fourth in total in his career (and also fourth of the season), he was placed as the leader in the points classification: “With this dynamic and the arrival options that remain until Madrid , the green jersey can become another beautiful lens. At the moment, I am very happy to see myself again so good and so competitive in one of the great cyclists. Who was going to say after my injuries. Fortunately, here I am ”. Jasper Philipsen, the other sprinter involved in the fight for the green, adds another two goals (they go 180 to 164).
