Jakobsen: "A very happy birthday with this victory"

The Dutchman from Deceuninck achieved his third stage win of this Vuelta. The latter, on his 25th birthday. "The team did a great job."

Fabio Jakobsen celebrated his 25th birthday in the best of ways: with a stage win, his third, in this Vuelta. After crossing the finish line in Santa Cruz de Bezana, the Dutchman made a gesture of strength, after a day in which they made it difficult from the start. "A very happy birthday with this victory. It is always a special day, but now it is to be very happy," said the Dutchman at the finish line, highlighting one more day the work of his squad, Deceuninck, who embraced him in the moments most complicated of the day.

"Today we saw what this team is like. The moment the UAE attacked and they changed the rhythm, my teammates protected me and took me back to the group. The only thing I could do was a great sprint to thank them for all the work I am never sure that I will win, but I always try, "said Jakobsen. The rider once again remembered important people who helped him get ahead a year ago, when he had that serious accident on the Tour of Poland. "I want to thank this to three very important people in my recovery: the Polish hospital doctor, the team doctor and the osteopath. Thank you very much. I love you very much," he concluded with a smile.
