The Belgian cyclist Remco Evenepoel (Deceuninck Quick Step) has announced his participation in the time trial and road events at the European Championships, which will take place on September 9 and 12 in Trento (Italy). The 21-year-old, currently competing in the Tour of Denmark after representing his country at the Tokyo Games, will attend the event ready to win again the title that was already awarded in 2019, the year in which he was also runner-up worldwide.

"After everything I have endured after the injury, winning the European championships would mean a lot. I worked hard to recover from the crash in the Tour of Lombardy," said the rider from Schepdaal. Evenepoel, winner of the Tour of Belgium, competed in the Giro d'Italia, but withdrew on the eighteenth stage.

"The Giro started well, but it did not end in the best possible way. The Olympics did not go as planned either. Now I am preparing to be in shape for the European Championship by picking up the pace of the race and working on my explosiveness" emphasized Evenepoel
