The Spanish David de la Cruz will be the head of the UAE Emirates for the Vuelta a España 2021 after the resignation of Tadej Pogacar, champion of the Tour de France and third in the Spanish round in 2019.

De la Cruz, who was left out of the Tour team, will repeat as head of ranks after having these stripes in the 2020 edition, when he finished in a remarkable seventh position in the general classification after his great performance on the final day of La Covatilla .

De la Cruz will have a powerful block at his side and in which he will have the veteran Rafal Majka as the main backing after the work that the Pole did for Pogacar in the last Tour de France. In addition to Majka, De la Cruz will have support in the mountains from Joe Dombrowski and Jan Polanc.

The UAE Emirates will also try to be noticed in the massive arrivals with the presence of Italian Matteo Trentin and Colombian Sebastián Molano, two very fast sprinting men. The UAE Emirates team for La Vuelta is completed by South African Ryan Gibbons and Portuguese Rui Oliveira.
