Carlos Cabezas: a great says "goodbye"

Carlos Cabezas, one of the greatest players in Unicaja and Spanish basketball, will say goodbye to the courts. His mythical number '10' will be retired.


One of the greatest players says "goodbye." Carlos Cabezas will leave active basketball after a sensational career that has lasted more than 20 years and has been characterized by success from start to finish.

His track record is unbeatable. He was one of the unforgettable golden juniors who won the 1999 World Cup in Lisbon with Spain after defeating the United States. Champion of the world and of Europe with the National Team, he lived the best stage of Unicaja that won the 2005 Cup and the 2006 League.

The Malaga club wanted to acknowledge this brilliant career and as a farewell finale they will play one of the Costa del Sol Trophy matches against Real Madrid with Unicaja. Afterwards, his mythical number '10' will be removed. He will be the second Unicaja player to receive this honor. The first was Berni Rodríguez, whose iconic '5' has hung from the roof of the Carpena since he left the slopes.
