Benoit Cosnefroy sprints to victory in the West-Brittany Classical

The French cyclist beat world champion Julian Alaphilippe in Plouay to win the 85th edition of the Brittany Classic.


The Frenchman Benoit Cosnefroy (AG2R Citroën Team) achieved this Sunday the triumph in the Brittany Classical, of the UCI World Tour calendar, by beating his compatriot and World Champion Julian Alaphilippe (Deceuninck Quick Step) in a long sprint, who fought until the end for the victory but was overtaken in the last meters of the goal, located in the French town of Plouay.

Both completed the 250.5 kilometer course in a time of five hours, 59 minutes and 56 seconds. In third place came, three seconds away, Mikkel Honore (Deceuninck Quick Step), who was ten seconds ahead of a group of five runners.
