Their good understanding allowed them to open a gap quickly, with a maximum advantage that grew over five minutes. In the peloton, the mechanical problems also affected Juan Ayuso, but luckily, without consequences or problems to return to the level of the rest of the favorites. As hostilities broke out in the main group, the escapees saw their advantage diminish at breakneck speed. 45 km from the finish the neutralization took place, but the tension only increased. The fans were produced and the platoon shattered into a thousand pieces. In the first group, the yellow jersey, Van Dijke, was leaked, but Ayuso or any other representative of the Spanish squad could not do the same. Finally, after a series of counterattacks in the leading group, the Dutchman Marijn van Den Berg won the sprint.
