Sweden Anna Nordqvist achieved the third "great" of her career, after beating the British Open for women to the Danish Nanna Koerstz Madsen in an exciting last hole to which both golfers arrived tied at the top of the classification.

A final hole in which the 34-year-old Swedish player, winner of the LPGA Championships in 2009 and the Evian Championships in 2017, used her greatest experience on the Scottish course of Carnoustie. Koerstz Madsen, who had held the pressure perfectly all day, failed at the decisive moment.

A bad approach shot to the "green" on the 18th hole, a 390-meter par 4, took Nanna Koerstz Madsen to the "bunker" where practically all her chances of winning were over. Failures that condemned the Danish player, who started the day tied at 207 strokes with Nordqvist at the top of the classification, to the final fifth place with two more impacts than the Swedish golfer.

For her part, the Spanish Carlota Ciganda finished in 34th place with a total of 287 strokes, 1 under par, after making 71 strokes this Sunday.
