Serie A has released the kit regulations for the 2021/22 season. In article 2, which talks about the colors that teams can use, a new rule arises in the first paragraph: as of the 2022/23 academic year, the green tone will be prohibited on the field players' jerseys. There are several reasons, one of which is television in nature: they try to prevent the color of the uniforms from being too similar to that of the field, confusing the viewer behind the screen. At the same time, fans in the stadium and the match officials will enjoy a greater contrast between the shirts and the pitch.

The rule has been included this season in order to allow clubs to move accordingly: kits for the next season start to be designed during the current season and teams need to be notified in advance.

In the regulations it has also been specified that if more than three colors are used, one must be clearly dominant on the surface of the jersey, shorts and socks, and the other tones must be identified as secondary without any doubts.
