The right-back has terminated his contract with Mallorca and is about to sign the Aragonese club's release letter as a replacement for the injured Vigaray.

Real-Zaragoza-has-'tied'-Fran-Gámez

Right-back Fran Gámez, 29, is close to becoming the first signing of Real Zaragoza 2021-22, after having terminated his contract with Mallorca, the previous step to reach La Romareda with the freedom letter. The sports director Miguel Torrecilla has very advanced negotiations with the defender and, even, the agreement could be made official in the next few hours.

The right-back position is a priority for Zaragoza, due to the serious injury to Vigaray, who has broken the external meniscus of the right knee, with cartilage involvement, and who, pending a new surgical intervention, can be up to six months low. Right now the only pure option that Juan Ignacio Martínez has for this demarcation is the youth squad Ángel López, beyond the option of moving Alejandro Francés to the band

Gámez, trained in the Acero de Puerto Sagunto, signed for Mallorca from Atlético Saguntino in January 2018 and with the Balearic team he achieved two consecutive promotions from Second B to First Division. Last season he lost prominence and now, with the new rise to the elite of Spanish football, he had run out of place with those of Son Moix.

For his part, and as AS has been reporting, Torrecilla continues to negotiate the signings of the French center-back Peybernes and the Ivorian midfielder Doukouré, whom he considers fundamental and who would also sign with the freedom letter.

Tomorrow, first press conference of JIM

After today's rest day, Real Zaragoza will resume training tomorrow with a double training session at the Ciudad Deportiva (9:30 am and 7:30 pm), prior to the first pre-season preparation match: on Saturday at Pinilla in front of Teruel (7:30 p.m., Streaming de Aragón Deporte, by Aragón Televisión) .

As soon as the morning session ends, at around 12:30 p.m., coach Juan Ignacio Martínez will offer his first press conference of the preseason to answer all questions about the team's current affairs, which, ten days after starting training, no signings have been announced yet, largely due to the ownership change process.
