Raúl Fernández: "An incredible first half of the season"

The Red Bull KTM Ajo rider, after his last victory at Assen, is looking to finish the season with great sensations in his rookie year in the category.

The Madrid rider is one of the sensations of the season in the Moto2 category. In his first year in the competition he has achieved three victories and five podiums in the nine races he has contested. With this great performance he is 31 points behind Australian teammate Rémy Gardner, who has been on the podium eight times. It is a difficult challenge for Raúl, who only thinks about having fun on the bike until the end of the season.

What has marked him most about this great start was his last victory in the Netherlands. “For me, the best moment was Assen's race. After making a mistake in Germany, getting the victory like we did, coming back in the race, gave me a lot of self-confidence. I can't think of a better way to finish the first part of the year ”he has expressed on the Italian web portal GPOne.com

He feels very supported by the KTM team, who have renewed him and who knows if next year he will race in MotoGP with that brand. “The team has been the one who has given me the opportunity and the necessary tools to achieve my full potential. I have no words to thank you for all that you have done. Good results are coming this year that are the fruit of all the work we have done and that is something very important. ”

He also talked about his teammate and rival, with whom he is very comfortable and has a great harmony: “Rémy (Gardner) is a very experienced rider who has been in the Moto2 category for several seasons. I learned a lot from him at the beginning of the year. Now we are both up and, in part, it is nice that two teammates find themselves in this situation. However, Rémy is very strong and it is not easy to beat him. ”

In addition, the one from San Martín de la Vega is completely with his feet on the ground. “The objective will be to keep winning races. In the end, that is what gives me the motivation to give my one hundred percent in each training session and what makes me enjoy this sport the most. In the second half of the year I would like to continue fighting for new results and we will work hard to make it happen ”, he concluded in his interview with GPOne.com
