Pochettino renews with PSG until 2023

PSG made official the extension of the Argentine coach's contract, which had previously ended in 2022. After doubts at the beginning of summer, Pochettino will continue to command the ambitious Parisian project.

On May 23, one of the biggest failures in the recent history of PSG was consummated. The ambitious project in the Parisian team, with Neymar, Mbappé, Icardi, Di María, Verratti, Marquinhos and company, kneeled down in Ligue 1. Lille were proclaimed French league champions, ahead of them. Meanwhile, Mauricio Pochettino on the bench began to doubt his future. Even at the beginning of the transfer market, there was talk of a possible express return to Tottenham after leaving the London team in November 2020.Finally, on July 23, PSG announced the renewal of Pochettino until 2023 (along with the rest of its technical staff). And it is that the Argentine contract ended a year earlier, in June 2022. Therefore, this extension of one more season means the trust that both Leonardo and Nasser Al-Khelaifi place in him. All this despite not achieving the main objective of winning Ligue 1, although he did add two titles to his record with the Super Cup and the French Cup.

Now, Pochettino has in his hands what is the best squad in the history of PSG. The signings during this market undoubtedly point to the most precious scepter, that of the king of Europe. The Champions League, the most desired cup that the Parisian team resists so much, is the jewel in the crown. With the arrivals of Gianluigi Donnarumma, Sergio Ramos, Achraf Hakimi, Georginio Wijnaldum, joining those already mentioned above (pending the future of Mbappé), it is almost an obligation to fight to, at least, reach the final that will take place in Saint Petersburg .
