The Spanish Nacho Elvira and the Swedish Vincent Norrman are the co-leaders of the Wales Open, which takes place at The Celtic Manor Resort in Newport, after delivering a card with 64 strokes (-7) at the end of the first day.

The Spanish golfer signed nine 'birdies', one 'eagle', two 'bogeys' and one 'double bogey'. Elvira signed her best game in the last holes, but her performance on hole 16 deprived her of being the solo leader, since with the 'wood' she put the ball out of the central zone of play and had problems trying to get out of an area of scrub.

For his part, the 23-year-old Swedish golfer made a brilliant return to this mythical Welsh course with a total of seven birdies, which helped him to tie for the lead with the Spanish golfer.

A three blows to the head, is a tied group composed of the American Chase Hanna, the Australian Bryden MacPherson, the English Robert Rock and Jordan Wrisdale, the Belgian Nicolas Colsaerts and the French Jean-Baptiste Gonnet with 67 hits (4 under par ) .

The rest of the Spaniards participating in the Wales Open, where this year the footballer Gareth Bale is the image of the tournament, could not overcome the par on the field during this first day: Alejandro Cañizares and Adrián Otaegui matched him, Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño ( +2), Álvaro Quirós (+5) and Carlos Pigem (+7) .
