Lazio enters the fight for Alex Grimaldo with force

Benfica need to sell to make money and the Spanish full-back is their most valued player in the European market. The Rome club is already negotiating with Benfica and Napoli asked about him.

Benfica is going through a major institutional crisis, with its former president, Luis Felipe Vieira, arrested for a corruption scandal. Added to this reality is the difficult economic moment after the failure of last season after the large financial investment made by Vieira, who spent € 82M on transfers and another € 25M to repatriate Jorge Jesus from Brazil.

The club has to sell desperately to make money and its most coveted footballer is Alex Grimaldo. With Barcelona and Atlético de Madrid out of the bidding, in Portugal they assure that Lazio has returned with force for the Spanish side, which is an old wish of the Italian club, and is already negotiating with the eagles. Another Serie A team that would be interested is Napoli.

The Lisbon club would be looking for a value that would be around € 20M for the 25-year-old Valencian. If Benfica manages to close the transfer of Grimaldo, he would be the second left-back that the team sells this market. The first was the young Nuno Tavares, 21, who went to Mikel Arteta's Arsenal for € 8M.
