Sporting has closed the new reinforcement for next season and it will also be for the defense. Juan Berrocal will arrive in Gijón on loan from Sevilla after all parties have reached an agreement to close the operation, only pending that the central defender extends his contractual relationship with the Nervión entity.

Juan Berrocal, who last season played on loan at Mirandés, will be the second sportinguista signing after the incorporation of Vasyl Kravets, if the expected arrival of Christian Rivera is not made official before. A left-back and now a center-back for the defense that was the least beaten in the last league together with those of the promoted Espanyol and Mallorca.

Different sources point out that it is a bet from Sporting's sports director, Javier Rico, rather than an express request from coach David Gallego. The club had renewed the contracts of Marc Valiente and Pelayo Suárez, adding four players to the roster of centrals for the rojiblanco team, who will now have five unless there is an exit in that area, unexpected until now.

Berrocal will join Sporting after having started the preseason at Sevilla with solo training sessions. The Jerez-born worked outside the Julen Lopetegui squad, pending precisely to know his fate since there were several teams interested in taking over the loan.On the other hand, Sporting is still pending the incorporation of Christian Rivera, who has been in Gijón for weeks, waiting for his separation from UD Las Palmas to be closed. The midfielder will arrive to occupy the place in the center of the field left vacant by the departures of Cristian Salvador and Javi Fuego, while there would still be a couple of wingers and a striker to sign, according to the priorities set publicly by the sports director Javier Rico himself at a press conference.
