Garuba: "I'm going to give all my work to be among the 12"

The Real Madrid center is the youngest of the Spanish concentration with 19 years. Against Iran, in Valencia, he debuted with the National Team.

The power forward of the Spanish team Usman Garuba assured that he will give all his "work and effort" to be among the twelve chosen for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, after debuting with the senior team on Saturday against Iran (88- 61), against whom they will play again this Monday (8:00 p.m.).

"That is already decided by the coach, I am going to give all my work and effort to be among the twelve and I am ready for whatever," Garuba said after training this morning, prior to the second friendly against Iran, this afternoon at the WiZink Center in Madrid.

The 19-year-old interior of Real Madrid, the youngest of the 18-year-old concentration from which the 12 chosen for the Games will come out, recognized that being in the senior team was something he had "dreamed of" but did not want to raise much that the call came from coach Sergio Scariolo.

"I have had it in mind, but I did not think about it much until little by little I saw that it could be possible, I was believing it day by day, working and here I am," he acknowledged.

On Saturday against Iran in Valencia he debuted with 9 points and 9 rebounds in 13 and a half minutes on the court. "Very nervous and very happy for my first game, my debut and all that. I was very nervous, things worked out and we were able to win," he explained.
