Benzema will continue in Madrid

According to ABC, the French forward will renew his contract for one year, until 2023, when he returns from vacation. He did not want to sign two because he wants to measure himself season by season.

The paths of Karim Benzema (33 years old) and Real Madrid will remain united for at least one more season. Negotiations for the renewal of his contract, which ends in 2022, began a few weeks ago and, according to ABC, the Frenchman will sign a new link once he returns from vacation. He will play in white until 2023, so he would leave at the age of 35.

The forward will return to training on July 22 and it is expected that, a few days later, his continuity can be made official. Of course, not as much as Madrid wanted, since it offered him two years, until 2024, but it was the footballer himself who preferred to measure himself season by season, according to the same media. This is his second renewal in two years, as he signed his last contract in 2020.

Despite being in an advanced phase of his career, Benzema is experiencing a sweet moment. He is the undisputed star of Madrid and has regained his place in the French national team, where he has already assumed much of the role. Although they disappointed in the last European Championship falling in the round of 16, the attacker was the best player on his team. His 30 goals and nine assists in 46 games last season have convinced the management that they want to retain their main offensive asset.

With him, you want to use the same formula as with Nacho. The youth squad, like Karim, ended his contract in 2022, and it has been extended by a year. Of course, the club still has six other players who end their relationship once this season ends: Varane, Carvajal (his renewal will not be a problem), Marcelo, Modric (he has just renewed a year), Bale and Isco. Some of them could be living their last year in the Madrid team.
