Argentine golfer Ángel 'El Pato' Cabrera has been sentenced to two years in prison for assaulting his ex-partner, Cecilia Torres Mana, during the years 2016 and 2018.

A court in the Argentine city of Córdoba has punished Cabrera this past Wednesday for the crimes of aggression, threats and harassment towards his former sentimental partner. At the trial, "El Pato" denied all the facts, but his imprisonment was immediate.

Related to this definitive arrest, the golfer has tried to flee from another quite similar case. His ex-partner had previously reported him for assaults. Her ex-wife, Silvia Rivadero, and a former partner, Micaela Escudero, had joined the accusation.

Ángel Cabrera did not start the year 2021 in the best way either. He was arrested for assault, robbery, illegal intimidation and continuous lack of respect for the authorities. For this reason, it was included in Interpol's so-called "code red" list, the purpose of which is to locate and provisionally arrest a fugitive who is awaiting extradition, surrender or similar judicial action.

The considered best Argentine golfer was the winner of two of the four Majors: the US Open in 2007 and the Augusta Masters in 2009. In 2013 he finished runner-up in the latter after losing in the tiebreaker with Australian golfer Adam Scott.
