The Real Madrid 2.0 of Carlo Ancelotti finally started with the visit of the white players to Valdebebas for the pertinent medical examinations that are usually carried out at the start of any preseason. The footballers went to Real Madrid City to then undergo various tests at the Sanitas Valdebebas Medical Center and at the Sports Medicine Unit of the Sanitas La Moraleja University Hospital. The only problem for Ancelotti is that this restart of his project with Madrid will have to be staggered and gradual, since he could only count on 13 footballers this Monday in the medical examinations: Lunin, Altube (at the moment without a first team card, but facto the third goalkeeper), Carvajal, Odriozola, Nacho, Mendy, Marcelo, Lucas Vázquez, Rodrygo, Brahim, Odegaard, Mariano and Jovic. Isco was also mentioned, who went to Valdebebas, but had to leave for a personal matter, with permission from the club; it is expected that tomorrow he will be able to perform the tests and train without problem.

Ancelotti suffers the damages of a summer like this 2021, with delayed international appointments and in which nothing less than a European Championship, a Copa América and the Olympic Games have converged. The eight Madridistas immersed in the Eurocup have already been eliminated and, therefore, enjoy their holidays. Their arrival in the preseason will be gradual, since all players have 21 days off as they finish playing: Alaba and Bale have to return on July 19; Modric, Benzema and Varane, on the 21st; Kroos, on the 22nd; and Courtois and Hazard, on the 25th. In the Copa América there have been four madridistas, of which three (Casemiro, Militao and Vinicius) are still standing; Valverde already lost to Uruguay in the quarterfinals and will return on the 26th. And in the Games there are three madridistas: Ceballos, Vallejo and Asensio.

Triple COVID-19 test at Real Madrid

The strict COVID-19 protocol from last year was followed, with the players arriving in a staggered manner and undergoing tests to verify that none is infected with the coronavirus. LaLiga left the type of protocol they wanted to carry out at the start of the preseason at the discretion of the clubs themselves and Madrid wanted to be especially cautious to avoid outbreaks in the dressing room. Arriving players undergo a triple test: a PCR, an antigen test that indicates at the moment whether or not there is an active infection and a serology test to verify if those who have already overcome the disease have antibodies and are therefore protected. .

If all the results go as expected and there are no unexpected infections, the 13 players will exercise this afternoon in Valdebebas under the orders of Ancelotti, in which it will be the first training session of the preseason, with special weight for Antonio Pintus, the new coach White physicist, who has returned from Inter to cut the bleeding of injuries that devastated Madrid last year. The session starts at 6:00 p.m. and in it Ancelotti will have a dozen homegrown players to complete the sessions.
