With the sponsorship of Banco Santander, the cycling race named after Miguel Indurain has once again brought together fans of two wheels. The thousand participants have gotten on the bicycle, complying with the health protocol, in a day scheduled with two different routes of 100 and 180 kilometers.

Departing from Villava, the participants have traveled, among other locations, to Aoiz, Mezquiriz, Erro, Egozkue, Zubiri, Belate or the mythical port of Artesiaga, whose ascent has been timed. Those who have performed the best times, both in the male and female categories, have been awarded with individual trophies, made with clay and made by hand, inspired by those awards that Miguel Induráin received on the Tour.

The Villavés ex-cyclist, as every year, has taken part in the cycling tour and, as in previous editions, has been surrounded by friends and famous athletes. The five-time Tour champion has been accompanied by his colleagues from Sports Santander Martín Fiz and Abel Antón who have exchanged their shoes for the bicycle for the occasion to face a new solidarity challenge, which has raised funds for the ASPACE foundation, Asociación Navarra Help for Cerebral Palsy.

Martín Fiz and Abel Antón have participated in the 100-kilometer route and have reissued the duel they starred in at the Villa de Madrid Duathlon last April. On that occasion, Abel Antón beat Martín Fiz by a mere 24 seconds.

Banco Santander has multiplied by 100 euros the average speed that the two athletes have reached to complete the test, and the amount donated has been 5,960 euros, after Martín Fiz and Abel Antón have completed the 100 kilometers in 29 at the same time. , 8 km / h on average. Abel Antón, who has suffered a small fall, has seen how Martin Fiz was waiting for him and, both showing great solidarity, they have crossed the goal together.

For Martín Fiz it was his second participation, after his official debut last year in a bicycle tour led by Miguel Indurain. Former cyclist Melcior Mauri and former footballers David Villa or Víctor Sánchez del Amo have also joined this great cycling festival in Villava.

Participants, starting and finishing in Villava, could choose to choose one of the two scheduled routes. In the most flexible, 100 kilometers long, Peio Amatriain Niño was the first to return to Villava, with a time of 2:44:30. In the other, much more demanding and 180 kilometers, Daniel López Fontana crossed the finish line in first place, with a time of 5: 24: 08.

In the female category, Noelia Alviso (3:36:58) has reached the finish line first in the short test and Pilar Mansilla Ferragud (6:14:37), in the longest.
