Maverick-Yamaha rupture and signing for Aprilia

The Roses driver and the Japanese factory will not fulfill the contract that binds them for the 2022 season, in which he will race with Noale's house.

The crisis installed in the official Yamaha box, specifically on the side of Maverick Viñales, will end the total and imminent divorce between the Spanish rider and the house of the tuning forks. Both parties have agreed not to fulfill the contract year that had yet to bind them for 2022 and Mack has signed in Assen with Aprilia to race with them from next season.

Home, dissatisfied and disappointed in each other for a long time, the last German GP was the definitive trigger for a break that will be made official soon. Maverick already made clear his discomfort with Yamaha after the Sachsenring race, where he finished last, openly showing his disappointment by pointing out that the repeated answer they gave him to his questions was a permanent "I don't know". Far from getting off the donkey, he reaffirmed his discomfort when he arrived in Assen, remaining latent in his press conference on Thursday. Already on Friday, his digital meeting with journalists was canceled when a meeting with his team was extended in which the break was made. And on Saturday, as if nothing had happened, he made pole position based on the fact that the bike had regained grip.

At Yamaha, for their part, their backs are covered in the official box, that of Monster Energy, thanks to the good season that Fabio Quartararo is having, and they see today in the Roses pilot more a problem than a hope for good results. Within the team they did not like the statements of their pilot after finishing the Sachsenring race last, they are tired of so much change in their part of the box (he is going for the third chief mechanic) and they will save a lot of money with his departure, because Maverick's fixed is approaching two figures per season.

You will seek to be happy in Aprilia

A Maverick, meanwhile, money does not tie you to stay at Yamaha. He has already won more than enough and has no problem running in exchange for a smaller chip than the current one, which places him as the second best paid rider on the grid, only surpassed by Marc Márquez. He wants to be happy, something that has long since ceased to be at Yamaha. That is why he has considered alternatives such as returning to Suzuki, where there is no gap for next year, and he has finally signed with Aprilia, where he will meet again as a boxing partner with Aleix Espargaró, with whom he had already spent two years in Suzuki before signing in 2017 by Yamaha, brand with which the relationship has come to an end ahead of schedule.

The next move expected from Yamaha is for Franco Morbidelli to join the official team and for two new riders to arrive at Petronas. There are several Moto2 candidates, such as Vierge, Dixon or Roberts and, coming from the SBK, the Turkish Toprak Razgatlioglu.
