David Mayoral, first new face of CD Lugo

The 24-year-old player, a Real Valladolid youth squad, arrives on loan from Cádiz CF at the request of coach Rubén Albés.

Y the first new face arrived at CD Lugo 2021-2022. David Mayoral, a 24-year-old right winger, joins on loan from Cádiz CF even though he was last season at Romanian Hermannstadt. In the Carpathian team he played a total of 22 games and 1750 minutes, adding five goals and four assists. Mayoral is an express request from Rubén Albés, who knows him well after counting on him in up to three teams (Valladolid Promesas, UCAM Murcia and Hermannstadt himself) .

David Mayoral is a right winger who can also act on the left wing or as a striker behind a ram that fixes defenders. Product of the prolific quarry of Real Valladolid, where Lugo likes to fish in recent seasons, there he had his first contact with Albés. His good performances led him to UCAM Murcia in the 2019-2020 season, where he arrived free and whose good performance made Cádiz bet on him. From Cádiz the player went on loans to Hermannstadt, from where he now returns to play in Lugo, still belonging to the Cadiz team with whom he has a contract until 2023.

After the renewals of captains Pita and Seoane and Xavi Torres and Canella, CD Lugo now undertakes its first incorporation, albeit via loan. The economic strains of the albivermello team, which in the words of its president make the approach to sports planning have to change, mean that the arrival of players in loan mode has to be Lugo's main route to complete a competitive squad. In his favor, the knowledge that Rubén Albés has of players who, like Mayoral, have passed through his teams and who can see in Lugo a good showcase for their careers.
