"I beat Cristiano at table tennis and he bought his table right away"

Former United player Ritchie De Laet shared a dressing room with the Portuguese player and realized his competitive spirit during his stay at the club.

Ritchie De Laet joined Manchester United in winter 2009 from Stoke City. At that time, Cristiano had a few months left at Old Trafford, since in the summer he was going to pack his bags for Real Madrid. De Laet spent a short time with the Portuguese striker in the locker room, but it was enough to realize Cristiano's competitive spirit. The Antwerp footballer explained in an interview to the Belgian newspaper HLN an anecdote that sums up the personality of the five-time Ballon d'Or winner: "When I beat him at table tennis, Cristiano immediately bought his own table to practice," says De Laet.

Despite his age, Cristiano continues to be the maximum reference for Juventus and the Portuguese national team. At the moment, he is the top scorer in the European Championship with five goals and everything seems to presage that, if his team is not eliminated against Belgium next Sunday, Cristiano will continue to increase his statistics.
