The week in the cycling world is marked by the suspension of the Paris-Roubaix. The 'Hell of the North', scheduled for this Sunday, April 11, has been postponed due to the health situation in France, so all the lights will look this week at the Tour of the Basque Country, which regains its place in the calendar after not being able to compete last year due to the pandemic.

Tour of the Basque Country - Itzulia (April 5-10)

The Tour of the Basque Country will bring together great figures from the peloton before they participate from next week in the Ardennes Classics. The race will start with a short but demanding time in Bilbao (Monday 5), before facing the leg-breaking day on the way to Sestao (Tuesday 6), the demanding high end in Ermualde (Wednesday 7), a day full of climbs on the way to Hondarribia (Thursday 8) and a somewhat quieter day in Ondarroa (Friday 9) before the final fireworks with the climb to Arrate (Saturday 10), in a stage with up to seven scoring ports. Runners such as Mikel Landa, Pello Bilbao, Ion Izagirre, Jakob Fuglsang, Emanuel Buchmann, Esteban Chaves, Primoz Roglic, Tadej Pogacar, Marc Hirschi, David Gaudu, Alejandro Valverde, Enric Mas, Hugh Carthy, Bauke Mollema, Adam Yates, Richard Carapaz or Tao Geoghegan Hart complete a luxury participation in the Basque round.

GP Scheldt (7 April)

With the absence of Paris-Roubaix, the Grand Prix Scheldt is postulated as the great occasion for the classicists this week in one of the last appointments with the cobblestones of Flanders. In the men's race we could see cyclists in action such as John Degenkolb, Marc Sarreau, Elia Viviani, Sam Bennett, Pascal Ackermann, André Greipel, Cees Bol or Tim Merlier among others, while in the women's event Marta Bastianelli stand out among the favorites, Lorena Wiebes or Elizabeth Banks among others. In addition, three Spanish teams, Movistar, Bizkaia Durango and Massi-Tactic, will be present at the race.
