Movistar bets on Miryam Núñez for her team in Ecuador

The cyclist will be the first woman to be part of the team, which was presented this Wednesday, and will compete in the major races that are held in Ecuador.


The Movistar team continues to consolidate itself as one of the teams that is betting the most on promoting women's cycling. After consolidating one of the strongest squads in the peloton with the signing of Annemiek Van Vlauten, now the Movistar subsidiary team in Ecuador has decided to include a cyclist within the team structure for the first time.

This Wednesday the presentation of the Movistar Team Ecuador and its team for 2021 was held and where the presence of the cyclist Miryam Núñez is striking, who will compete with the other eight boys who complete the structure.

From the team they point out that Núñez will compete with Movistar Team Ecuador in the numerous races that are held in the country. Núñez is right now the great reference of Ecuadorian women's cycling, as shown by her national long-distance and time trial titles achieved in 2019.

In Núñez's calendar there are outstanding races in which Movistar Team Ecuador will start, such as the Women's Cycling Tour of Colombia, the Tour of Costa Rica and the Tour of Guatemala. In addition, it will also compete in the Road Cycling and Mountain Bike World Championships representing Ecuador. A great step for Miryam Núñez, who next season could continue her progression in Europe and who, in the meantime, wants to continue to shine on the roads of Ecuador.
