Monaco, rival of Herbalife Gran Canaria in the semifinals

The Principality team defeats Buducnost in the third quarter match. The round will be three games: Tuesday 6 and Friday 9, the first two.

Herbalife Gran Canaria already knows its rival in the Eurocup semifinals: AS Monaco, which reaches that round of the competition for the first time in its history. The Principality team defeated Buducnost (90-87) in the third match of the quarterfinals (90-87) with 24 points from an old acquaintance of the Endesa League, Mathias Lessort.

Like the quarters, the semifinals will be the best of three games. The first will be held in Monaco next Tuesday, April 6, and the second, at the Gran Canaria Arena, on Friday the 9th. If there is a tie, the third will be on Wednesday the 14th, again, on the Monegasque court. In the other semi-final, Virtus Bologna will face Unics Kazan on the same dates. The final will be played between April 27 and May 5, also with three matches.

The two finalists of the Eurocup will play the next Euroleague, as long as Valencia Basket is left out of the quarterfinals of the highest continental competition. If the taronjas reach the Top-8, only the champion would be among the 18 best in Europe in the course 2021-22.

From hell to heaven

In this way, Granca can culminate a great season that started badly. Pretty bad. In the Endesa League, the islanders were left out of the Copa del Rey after losing 7 of the first 10 games. But from that moment, and after overcoming the Beirán mess, they grew and the playoff for the title is possible: they are 11th with an 11-15 balance, just two wins behind the eighth with 10 games still to be played in the regular phase.

Herbalife found peace of mind in the Eurocup at its worst in the CBA. They closed the group stage as the leader with eight wins and only two losses and the Top-16 second with three wins after starting with three losses.
