Valverde and Cortina will lead Movistar at Strade Bianche

In the women's category, Annemiek van Vleuten, the European champion, will defend in Italy the brilliant triumph achieved last August.

Alejandro Valverde and Iván García Cortina will be the leaders of Movistar in the 15th edition of the Strade Bianche, the Italian classic of dirt roads with a route of 184 kilometers that will be held next Saturday.

Valverde, world champion in 2018, and Iván García Cortina, who debuted last Saturday at Omloop, will share chevrons in a team completed by 20-year-old Puerto Rican Abner González and Spaniards Sergio Samitier, Luis Mas, Gonzalo Serrano and Héctor Carretero .

In the World Tour event there will be a luxury participation, with the expected three-way duel between the Belgian defending champion Wout van Aert (Jumbo), the Dutch Mathieu van der Poel (Alpecin) and the French world champion Julian Alaphilippe (Deceuninck ).
