The Ceratizit Challenge La Vuelta will be held in Ourense

The women's event of La Vuelta, an appointment of the women's World Tour, will be run this edition on Galician roads. The layout has not yet been revealed.


The Ceratizit Challenge by La Vuelta, the women's event of the Spanish round, will be run this edition in the province of Ourense. This appointment of the Women's World Tour, therefore, will be held for the first time in its history (in 2021 it celebrates its seventh edition) on Galician roads and will reach various towns in the province. More prominence for Galicia, which will also host the last stages of the men's event, with a final time in Santiago to celebrate the Holy Year.

The route has not yet been revealed, after Unipublic, the organizing company, has been betting on the growth of the race, which was born as a one-day race (as in the Tour, for example) and then went on to record of two days, one of them against the clock. In 2020 one more was added. three, and was leaving the Community of Madrid, Toledo for the first time.

Manuel Baltar, president of the Ourense deputation, highlighted "the economic and promotional return" that will mean hosting one of the great events on the women's calendar. Javier Guillén, director of La Vuelta, highlighted La Vuelta's commitment to "make the event grow" and, at the same time, that of Ourense to support women's sport.
