Roma already have half a quarter ticket

Fonseca beat his former team with a perfect performance and three Italian goals, signed by Pellegrini, El Shaarawy and Mancini, that brought him closer to the goal.

The Europa League version of Roma continues to give joy to its tifosi and already has half a quarter ticket in its pocket. Fonseca defeated Shakhtar, his former team, with a resounding 3-0 thanks to a practically perfect performance, with a single mole: the injury to Mkhitaryan, who suffered a calf problem and will undergo medical tests tomorrow. The Armenian started the game as a false nine, taking the place of Dzeko and Mayoral, both on the bench.

The Ukrainians, for their part, started aggressively, looking for a pressure that, once overcome, left huge holes for Roma's counterattacks. The 1-0, in fact, came thanks to a great vertical ball from Pedro for Pellegrini, who won the heads up with Trubin and opened the can. Pau López had little work, almost everything concentrated in the beginning of the second half, when he denied the 1-1 with two great interventions to Teté and Junior Moraes.

Fonseca, after a little discussion with Pedro (which ended with a hug), replaced the Spaniard with El Shaarawy, and the Italian made it 2-0 with a nice personal move, his first goal since returning to the Italian capital. Shortly after, Mancini returned to show his house brand specialty, a header after a corner combed by Cristante, and finished the job. The second leg, except for a comeback by Shakhtar that would be absolutely miraculous, is already little less than a formality for the Giallorossi. With one foot in the Europa League quarterfinals and fourth in Serie A, the Romans are experiencing a season well above expectations. Fonseca, highly questioned in recent months, is reaping the fruits of his work.
