MotoE gets ready in Jerez

Since Tuesday, the Cadiz circuit will host three days of training in the electrical category of the Grand Prix.


From Tuesday to Thursday, the Jerez-Ángel Nieto Circuit will host the first pre-season training session for the MotoE World Cup of the two scheduled in the calendar, both on the Cádiz circuit.

In this campaign, eighteen riders, including four Spaniards and the Colombian Yonny Hernández, will occupy the starting formations of the qualifying events for the World Cup of electric motorcycles, MotoE, which, from May 1 and 2 in Jerez, will be held in unison with some of the MotoGP World Championship races.

The current champion of the competition, the Spanish Jordi Torres (Pons Racing 40), will defend the title against the rest of the rivals, of up to eleven nationalities, and will have as a partner the Dutchman Jasper Iwema, the last driver to join after the announcement made by your team in the last week of February.

María Herrera, the only woman

Among the rest of Spaniards, the only woman in the competition stands out, María Herrera from Toledo (Openbank Aspar), as well as Fermín Aldeguer, her partner in the team owned by Jorge Martínez 'Aspar', and the Balearic Miguel Pons , of the LCR team. Aldeguer, at 15, is the youngest rider on the grid and reaches this category of electric motorcycles after winning the Superstock 600 European Cup last season, in which he also competed in the Moto2 European Championship of the FIM CEV Repsol competition. .

The list also highlights the presence of the 2019 winner in the MotoE World Championship and runner-up in 2020, the Italian Matteo Ferrari (Trentino Gresini), as well as the third overall, the Swiss Dominique Aegerter (Dynavolt Intact GP), while that Brazilian Eric Granado changes teams and goes to One Energy Racing. The popular Colombian rider Yonny Hernández joins the Octo Pramac MotoE and the Portuguese André Pires will form a pair with the Andorran Xavier Cardelús in the Avintia Esponsorama Racing.

The second pre-season event for MotoE is scheduled from April 12 to 14, also at the Jerez Circuit, the scene of the start of the World Championship in this category on the first weekend of May and coinciding with the MotoGP Spanish GP.

The other five rounds of the MotoE World Cup will be in LeMans (France), Barcelona, Assen (Holland), the Austrian Red Bull Ring circuit and Misano (Italy) .
