Maverick Viñales uncovers the jar of essences in Qatar

The Yamaha rider took the first victory of the year, coming back from eighth after a poor start and Mir lost the podium on the home straight to Zarco and Bagnaia.

Maverick Viñales work of art to win the first race of the year in MotoGP. When the Yamaha is as inspired as it has been in this Qatar GP, it is a very fearsome rival for the others, so much so that it is even capable of overcoming a bad start, like the one that has returned to star when the traffic lights go out by Losail.

To the already three-time winner in the Qatari desert, two in MotoGP and one in Moto3, Joan Mir should have accompanied him on the podium, because his enormous comeback from tenth place deserved it, but to the champion, after placing second in the penultimate corner of the last lap, he was swept away by the Ducati of Johann Zarco and Francesco Bagnaia on the finish line. Of course, Suzuki's has contributed to this being the case, because in his eagerness not to lose place, something past entered the last turn and that made him lose steam in the final meters.Going back to Maverick, he had announced on the inside day that his strategy was to make a good start from third place, to get ahead and try to open a gap, but at the moment of truth the race went completely as he had imagined it, what that did not prevent him from winning it anyway. Unlike other times, Mack overcame this time in the face of adversity. After falling to eighth place due to another bad start, he was climbing positions at the wheel of Fabio Quartararo, until on the eleventh lap he decided to continue the war on his own when he understood that the Frenchman was blocking him. It passed him to get third and then he got rid of Zarco one lap later, to place second, and three later from Bagnaia, to take the lead and not let go any more. The race looked different after the start, because four Ducati took the lead, including Jorge Martín, who with a start changed his fourteenth place on the grid for fourth in the first bars of the race. In front of him he had Jack Miller, who surprisingly was losing positions and finished ninth, surpassed among others by the Espargaró brothers. Aleix beat Pol with the Honda with the Aprilia for seventh place with 56 thousandths of advantage. That was the ceiling for those from Granollers, because Quartararo and Álex Rins, who finished fifth and sixth, were two and a half seconds ahead of them.

To complete with the rest of the Spanish, Martín finally fell to fifteenth place after his great start and Iker Lecuona finished two places behind the Madrilenian. The one who did not finish, due to a fall, was Álex Márquez, on the ground when he was trying to get into the points.

Special mention, this time in a negative sense, deserves the career of Valentino Rossi. He started in an exciting fourth place and after the start he was relegated to seventh. Unlike his factory mates, Maverikc and Fabio, he couldn't make up positions and went even further back, finishing in a disappointing twelfth place.
