Mascarell has decided to leave

As AS has learned, the Spanish midfielder is planning to leave Schalke this summer. The English team is one of those that has shown the most interest.

Omar Mascarell's time at Schalke seems to be coming to an end. As AS has learned, the Spanish midfielder is planning to leave the German club at the end of the season. After five years in the Bundesliga (two at Eintracht and three with the Gelsenkirchen team), the former Madrid squad wants to change of scene and his destiny could be the Premier.

Although Omar will wait until the end of the season to make his final decision, AS has also been able to confirm that Wolverhampton have already asked for him. The disastrous course of Schalke, which is bottom of the German league and has had five different coaches in the last year, led Mascarell to consider leaving the club last winter, but he decided to stay despite having some offer. As captain, he assumed his responsibility: "I'm not getting off the boat." Saving Schalke is their most immediate priority, but things look difficult: with ten days to go the team is nine points behind the 16th classified, which plays the promotion for permanence against the third classified in the Bundesliga 2.

Mascarell signed Schalke in 2018 after the Ruhr area club paid Madrid 10 million euros. If Wolverhampton wants to take over his services, they will have to pay a figure that ranges from 5 million and that is that Schalke will be almost forced to sell down if they want to get something for Omar, who ends his contract in the summer of 2022.
