Luis César returns to Lugo

The coach already knows the Galician team and President Saqués. From his hand he arrived at Anxo Carro in the 2016-2017 season, achieving ninth place in Second.

What was an open secret became official at the stroke of nine in the evening. Three seasons later Luis César Sampedro returns to the CD Lugo bench. The Arousano coach, who achieved the best Albivermella classification in Second, signs for the remainder of the season and another after the dismissal last Sunday of Mehdi Nafti, his predecessor in office. Ahead, fifteen days in which Sampedro will aim to shore up the team's permanence, currently well on track to six points from relegation, and improve the game of the albivermellos, one of the recurring criticisms from the fans in recent days

Luis César already knows Lugo and President Saqués. From his hand he arrived in the 2016-2017 season at Anxo Carro, where he completed what so far is the best classification of the club in Second. A meritorious ninth since he even knew little by the good performance of the team especially in the first round, where Alfonso Pedraza, currently at Villarreal, and Joselu shone with their own light, who ended up being top scorer in the category with 22 goals. At the end of that season, CD Lugo offered him the renewal, improving his conditions, but Sampedro preferred the project offered by Real Valladolid, in Second Division at that time.

Since then Luis César coached, in addition to Valladolid, Tenerife in 2018-2019 in the last four games of the season to achieve permanence, and at Deportivo de La Coruña last season replacing Anquela. With a team in free fall, he was dismissed after winning just one game in eleven rounds. His return to Lugo allows him to return to training in a team that he knows well and that also offers him the possibility of starting next season's project if all goes well.
