Juventus exercises the option to buy McKennie

The relationship between the midfielder and a Schalke 04 that is sinking in the Bundesliga is finally ending.


Juventus confirmed this Wednesday that it exercised the definitive purchase option of the American midfielder Weston McKennie, incorporated as a loan in the last summer market, for which it will pay 18.5 million to the German Schalke 04.The agreement also provides for the payment of another 6.5 million euros in the event that certain sporting objectives are met, the Turin team reported in an official statement.

McKennie, who became a very important element in the balances of Andrea Pirlo's team, signed a contract until June 30, 2025.

In this season, the 22-year-old American midfielder played 30 games and scored five goals, four in Serie A and one in the Champions League in a 3-0 win at Barcelona.

The relationship between McKennie and a Schalke 04 that is sinking in the Bundesliga, in which it is bottom nine points away from salvation, ends in a definitive way, after winning a single game in 23 games.

Juventus are third in Serie A, seven points behind leaders Inter Milan.
