Insigne lifts Naples

Two goals from the captain and one from the Nigerian were worth the victory against Bolonia de Mihajlovic, who closed the gap with Soriano.

Napoli continue to alternate disappointing performances with positive matches. After the absurd draw with Sassuolo, the Southerners beat Mihajlovic's Bologna 3-1, on a night that certified the return of Victor Osimhen and the outstanding season of Lorenzo Insigne. The Azzurri captain left the field in Reggio Emilia with a 3-3 penalty in injury time, shouting against his own teammates. His anger turned into another great game, which began with a precise thread from the edge of the area that ended a play with Fabián and Zielinski, and was worth 1-0.

Bologna, however, made it clear that they were not going to give up easily with a left-footed shot from Skov Olsen, who ran into the post. Before the break, in addition, there was a goal annulled to Palacio for offside. The Argentine, despite his 39th birthday, is still decisive and was one of the best during all 90 minutes.

In the second half, Gattuso replaced a Mertens still in very poor condition with Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian jumped into the field plugged in, showing a physical state that had not been seen since October. He did not score a goal just from the first leg with the Rossoblú, because then he suffered a shoulder injury, covid and a blow to the head that stopped him for 14 days in total. This time, instead, the player for whom Napoli invested almost 60 million euros was seen. He scored a goal that perfectly sums up what Gattuso asked of him: attack the spaces to play vertically. On 65 'he took advantage of a pass from Zielinski, surpassed Danilo with his speed and won the heads up with Skorupski. Shortly after, however, he forgave the possible 3-1 by kicking out to empty goal, and his failure took its toll as a bad pass from Ospina gave the visitors 2-1, which Soriano made.

Insigne, however, returned to act as leader and with a right hand from outside the area again extended the advantage of the Azzurri, who passed the last quarter of an hour without problems. Despite the bad season, Naples is still alive in the fight for fourth place, which is three points behind with one game less. His course will be decided from next Sunday: appointments with Milan, Juventus and Roma await him.
