Sporting and Espanyol signed a draw in an exciting match at El Molinón-Quini that the parakeet team could win but first met the league's top scorer, Uros Djurdjevic, to neutralize Embarba's goal, and then with two interventions by Diego Mariño who avoided local defeat.

Espanyol was more ambitious than Sporting in the general calculation of the match, they looked more for the opposite goal, they were always more vertical. However, the best attack in the league away from home, this time without RdT, ran into the defensive security of a Sporting that hardly disturbed Diego López. Djuka's goal and a goal annulled by Gaspar - by the youth squad - at the edge of half-time were the highlights of the locals against the visiting goal; the rest were approaches with little danger.

Vicente Moreno showed that he was not willing to leave Gijón empty and his team came out ready to send from the first minute. He succeeded in the first half and surprised an excessively imprecise rival, who dedicated himself to entrenching himself around his area, wrapping up Mariño. But in an arrival to the left of Pedrosa he found the goal of Embarma that gave wings to the Catalans.

But Espanyol may not have expected that the first ball that Uros Djurdjevic touched would end up inside his goal. The Serbian faced David López and took a shot placed, at the base of the furthest post, which made Diego López's stretch useless. The draw restored confidence to Sporting and balanced the forces on the pitch to the point that in the last attack play of the first half ended in a goal. The VAR was in charge of revealing that Gaspar had controlled the ball with his hand.

In the second half, a very close match was expected, but it became almost a monologue for Espanyol. Sporting, excessively innocent every time it managed to go out on the attack, had to use itself thoroughly in defensive tasks or, in the last extreme, leave everything to the capacity of its goalkeeper.

Mariño repelled with two great interventions shots from Darder (61 ') and Embarba (77'). To this success of the sportinguista goal was added the mistake of the parakeet attack, which also had great opportunities in unopposed headshots by Javi Puado (59 ') and Nico Melamed (80'), who left high.

On the other side of the field, the only really remarkable intervention by Diego López was a loose shot from Djuka (72 '). Sporting was very weak in attack throughout the game but managed to save a point and stay six behind Espanyol, which is still in direct ascent.
