Van Vleuten debuts with Movistar

The Dutchwoman will start the cobbler season at Omloop Het Nieuwsblad. García Cortina will be the team's trump card in the men's category.


The fourth season of the women's Movistar Team will begin this Saturday, February 27, with the dispute of the 16th Omloop Het Nieuwsblad (UCI ProSeries), a Belgian event that opens the pavé classics season and whose 126 km between Ghent and Ninove will close with the terrible chained of the Kapelmuur and Bosberg, used in previous decades as the closing of the Tour of Flanders.

Pablo Lastras will be the sports director of the telephone squad in the long-awaited debut of Annemiek van Vleuten, which will debut in competition with Sebastián Unzué's team leading a 'six' that is completed by Aude Biannic, Jelena Erić, Barbara Guarischi and two other brilliant incorporations Blue Team: Leah Thomas and Emma Norsgaard.

In the men's event, second round of the WorldTour with 200 km of route and a total of thirteen heights and as many cobbled sections, Chente García Acosta will lead a 'seven' with the presence of Iván García Cortina, in his first appearance on the pavé with the Movistar Team jersey. Imanol Erviti, the promising young Swiss Johan Jacobs, Juri Hollmann, Mathias Norsgaard, Sebastián Mora and Gonzalo Serrano complete the roster of thirteen riders that Movistar Team will present on Saturday in Belgium.
